The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta popularly known as IIMC was founded in 1961 by the joint efforts of Government of Indian, supported by Sloan Institute of Management and Ford Foundation. It is India's first IIM. The one-year Post Graduate Program for Executives (PGPEX) was launched recently, in 2006.
IIMC is located at just away from the rush and still close to one of India's earliest metropolitan cities - kolkata. the city head quarters some of the notable companies of various sectors including finance, electronics and coal.
The infrastructure includes one of Asia's largest management library (Bidhan Chandra Roy Library) with 120000 titles and 2000 electronic journals/databases, 15 MB internet access, a large auditorium and and a well equipped gymnasium. IIMC PGPEX is a strictly residential program; residing outside the campus is not allowed. Four hostels, furnished accommodation and limited family accommodation are available on campus. Family accommodation could be availed on basis of availability and requirement.
